Happy New Year

Hiya! How are you? No really how are you?

Is anyone else exhausted by this time of the year?

After all the Christmas preparations and expectations.... and for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, we're in the peak of summer's heat. (And for our Northern cousins you may be affected by SAD, seasonal affective disorder).

This time of year we reset. We may also be setting New Year's Resolutions.

Does anyone else love the look and feel of a fresh new diary?

I love the texture, the hope and promise of a clean new diary.

At the start my entries are neat, precise, ordered. As the year progresses my entries get messier, the to do list longer.

Just like life.

We start a new year with all the optimism of a fresh start, but life gets in the way, it gets messy.

Like a diary, each day, week, month is a new page.

An opportunity to start fresh.

You also have the chance to look back. Reflect on triumphs and challenges. Learn and move on.

In the immortal words of John Lennon, "And what have you done. Another year over. A new one just begun"

It can be overwhelming thinking of all the things we haven't ticked off our to do list. But do we ever congratulate ourselves on what we have achieved?

So, as part of our fresh start to the year, how about we look at what we have done and acknowledge the wins, living in the moment, be grateful for what we have, not what we don't have.

Gratitude, health, and longevity
How can the power of gratitude affect our lives? Recent research has pointed to gratitude's myriad positive health effects, including greater emotional and social well-being, better sleep quality, lower depression risks, and favourable markers of cardiovascular health. Now, new data from the long-term Nurses' Health Study shows that it may extend lives. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/gratitude-enhances-health-brings-happiness-and-may-even-lengthen-lives-202409113071

In the meantime....well done you! I'm proud of all you've achieved and I look forward to what lies ahead.

Be free to live your best life.
